Historical and Contemporary Ideas

What are contemporary thinkers, historians, and social scientists able or not able to say about the nature and history of society? In this project, we examine methods of social sciences from the standpoint of "historical and contemporary ideas." Now that we are over 20 years into the 21st century, it is clear that our "way of looking" at and our "way of thinking" about society have changed dramatically from before. One example of such change is the fact that, in contrast to the traditional history of ideas approach of analyzing various thinking on society by interpreting texts and societal context, much attention is now being paid to analytical philosophy, which sets its sights on the analysis of concepts and logical consistency. What will be the relationship between these two approaches and how will each approach develop in the future?

We would like to create a platform where contemporary researchers and thinkers, including historians and area studies scholars, with diverse "ways of looking" and "ways of thinking" can discuss how contemporary society is changing and how we can study such evolving societies.
