Abstract:2021 marks the 50-year anniversary of the publication of John Rawls' A Theory of Justice. In this workshop, we will invite leading Japanese scholars on the "history of political thought" and "political philosophy" to discuss the current state of these fields based on John Rawls' thinking. Specifically, we will explore the methodological differences between the history of political thought and political philosophy and the possibility of dialogue that transcends these differences. The workshop will entail brief reports followed by panel discussion.
