Good and Justice in Theoretical Economics: Interrelation between Individual and Society
OTAKI Masayuki

abstract

Utilitarian theory is entirely misunderstood by pro-Kantian such as Rawls (1999) and Sandel (2009). Pro-Kantians criticize that utilitarianism is not generous to admit individuals’ rights. Such feature becomes prominent when utilitarian try to maximize the sum of each individual’s utility. However such Pro-Kantian’s critique is almost out of date from the viewpoint of the modern economic theory which relies on the utilitarianism. Based on Moore (1902), we construct the concept of good and justice and clarify the relationship between them.
