Understanding households' responses to changes in the labor supply associated with life events and to changes in various systems, including tax and social security, is essential for designing appropriate policies. However, it is difficult to measure income accurately using data from existing surveys, thus impeding empirical analysis in Japan. "Administrative data" on taxes provided by local governments makes it possible to accurately grasp the economic situation of individuals and households. Furthermore, by linking the data with the usage records of public services provided by local governments, such as daycare centers, the effectiveness of policies such as childcare support and the types of people most affected can be precisely analyzed.
