Date:March 22, 2025/14:00-17:00

Abstract:The Institute of Social Science at University of Tokyo launched an institute-wide joint research project, " Methodology of Social Sciences: How to Measure Phenomena and Values," in 2021. This project aims to address the role of social sciences in light of methodological innovations driven by recent technological developments, including AI and big data. Specifically, it examines how different social sciences measure objective events and subjective values and preferences. This workshop provides a comprehensive overview of the project's findings and facilitates dialogue among scholars from various fields to explore future directions. We aim to critically reassess contemporary social science methodologies and explore new interdisciplinary approaches through these discussions.
